The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a consultation on a proposed regulation which will allow dependent child survivors of our members to take a gap year from full time education.
The proposed regulation will allow us to pay these members their PPF survivor benefits from the start date of their qualifying course, so long as they begin their studies before they turn 23 years of age.
While this proposed change will only affect a small number of PPF members, we know it will make a large difference to any young person whose parent or guardian has died.
You can read the proposals and take part in the consultation process on the DWP site.
The consultation closes on Friday 9 September 2022.
