The recent global IT outages, caused by a CrowdStrike antivirus update for Windows devices, had a negligible business impact due to our robust risk management procedures.
The antivirus update indirectly affected us through some of our third-party partners but our teams implemented back-up and contingency plans to ensure the impacts to our work were minimal and that our members, levy payers and employees were unaffected.
We seek to ensure that our operations are resilient internally, and within our supply chain so that we can minimise disruption, as well as react and recover quickly. We set ourselves high standards for risk management, embedding it within our day-to-day work and benchmarking ourselves against industry good practice for operational resilience and business continuity.
Our Chief Information Technology Officer, Simon Liste, said, "Our critical services were not impacted by last week’s global IT outage. Although some processes were affected through some of our third-party partners, we were able quickly to implement our tried-and-tested contingency plans, allowing us to avoid any business disruption and continue to provide services to our members, levy payers and colleagues."
