We review and consult on how we apply the levy rules each year, with a wider consultation every three years.

The following rules and guidance set out how we will calculate the levy for the 2019/20 levy year.

These were published following a consultation we launched in September and we set out our conclusions in our policy statement.

The appendices and guidance documents include steps that schemes can take to ensure they receive credit for positive actions, such as certifying contingent assets or deficit reduction contributions.

We've also published FAQs concerning the impact of recent court decisions on s179 valuations.

The rules, determination and relevant appendices are all part of the levy rules. The related guidance gives you an overview of how we intend to operate the rules in practice. Where there are any differences between the guidance and the rules, the rules prevail.
