Annual leave

You’ll receive 182 hours paid leave for a five day working week, as well as all public holidays.

If you volunteer for charity or other public duties, you’ll get up to five days discretionary paid leave.

Parental leave

You'll receive maternity, adoption or shared parental leave of up to 26 weeks full pay followed by 13 weeks statutory pay and a further 13 weeks unpaid, and paternity leave of 2 weeks full pay.


You’ll automatically be enrolled into the Alpha pension scheme, a career average defined benefit pension scheme provided by My Civil Service Pension.

You also have an option to join an alternative defined contribution scheme with Legal and General

Private Health Care Insurances

We offer a range of different health care insurances, including private medical insurance, all funded for you.

This includes critical illness cover, which may cover treatment of acute conditions and the initial treatment of chronic conditions.

The health cash plan gives you set benefit limits towards a wide range of healthcare, including dental care, eye tests, glasses, physiotherapy and alternative therapies.

These are all taxable benefits.

We also fund counselling; structured counselling sessions either face-to-face or over the phone.

Performance bonuses and awards

To reward great performance, we have a discretionary corporate bonus scheme of up to 20 per cent of your annual salary.

Twice a year you can nominate colleagues for our ICARE awards. Staff can use our immediate recognition scheme to buy a colleague a gift for a job well done at any time

Social events

Our Employee Liaison Committee organise regular social events and everyone is also invited to our annual Christmas party. 

Travel benefits

You can make great savings on a bike and related safety equipment, under our cycle to work scheme. We also offer interest free loans to purchase annual tickets for travel to and from work on public transport or annual parking passes.

We will pay for you to join a professional organisation, to have your name included on a professional register or have a special license relevant to your work.

It feels good to give something back. You can give to the charities of your choice, with monthly donations taken from your gross salary, in an easy and tax efficient way via regular donations. You can also make one-off donations to sponsor family or friends, or in response to emergency appeals.’
